A New Year of Opportunity: Supporting Regional Growth Together
A New Year, A New Phase for Acon
As we step into the new year, it’s an exciting time at Acon Industries - one defined by delivery, partnership, and opportunity for the wider region.
With our asphalt plant now fully operational and supplying mix to the open market, we’re entering a new phase for Acon - one focused on providing a great experience and dependable service for our customers and clients. For us, this milestone is not just about capability; it’s about what that capability enables for the communities and regions we serve.
Local Capability That Supports Regional Growth
Having a new asphalt plant capable of producing up to 120 tonnes per hour means we can better support infrastructure development and economic growth across the Bay of Plenty and beyond.
It allows us to respond to market demand without constraint, provide certainty of supply, and deliver high-quality asphalt products that meet the needs of councils, contractors, and developers alike. Ultimately, this strengthens the region’s ability to plan, build, and maintain critical infrastructure with confidence.
Partnering With Our Clients to Deliver Outcomes
For us, partnership will be critical to the success of the region. We’re focused on building strong, trusted relationships with our clients, understanding their programmes, supporting delivery outcomes, and being a reliable part of the supply chain that helps projects succeed. By being local, and invested in the region, we’re proud to play a role in supporting broader regional infrastructure goals.
Welcoming New Leadership
Alongside this momentum, we are pleased to welcome Ricky Nugent as Acon Industries’ new Chief Executive Officer.
Ricky brings 35 years’ experience in the roading and construction industry, having led complex programmes, capital portfolios, and organisations responsible for critical infrastructure. His background spans governance, executive leadership, and strategic delivery in environments where safety, reliability, and public value matter most.
Ricky is passionate about building strong, aligned organisations. He believes high performance comes from clarity of purpose, sound governance, and cultures where people feel trusted and supported. Working at the intersection of strategy and execution, Ricky brings a pragmatic, people-focused approach to managing risk, strengthening partnerships, and delivering sustainable outcomes that genuinely make a difference.
Looking Ahead
With new leadership in place and our asphalt plant now delivering to the market, Acon enters the year well positioned to support our customers, strengthen regional partnerships, and contribute meaningfully to the infrastructure that underpins thriving communities. We’re excited about the year ahead and the role we can play in helping the region move forward together.
