Project Update: Acon’s Asphalt Plant
Exciting progress is underway at the Acon Industries asphalt plant site in Tauriko as we move closer to commissioning. Here's a snapshot of what’s happening on the ground this week.
Site Works & Infrastructure
Kerb preparation is complete and ready for pouring, pending weather conditions.
Sub-base shaping has commenced on the access road surrounding the plant pad, forming the foundation for long-term heavy vehicle movement.
The temporary entranceway is being removed to make way for the permanent access point, improving logistics and safety.
Utilities & Services
Water lines for fire hoses and emergency showers have been installed, supporting our H&S compliance.
Our gas pipeline connection is in place.
The transformer is now installed and live, supporting upcoming commissioning activities.
Design & Engineering
The foundation design has undergone final review and is expected to be submitted tomorrow, with a turnaround anticipated by the end of the week.
Revised surface level drawings have been received. These capture changes primarily around stormwater infrastructure and the geo-grid wall.
Plant Assembly Countdown
If progress continues as planned, plant assembly is expected to begin in four weeks.
Thanks to the modular design, the plant can be stood up in approximately two weeks - allowing for efficient installation and future adaptability as technology evolves.
We’re grateful to our contractors, engineers, and project team for maintaining momentum through recent design changes and weather challenges.
