Project Manager - Asphalt & Chipseal Surfacing

  • Location: Tauranga Central, Bay of Plenty

  • Contract Type: Full time

Own the project. Create delivery certainty. Build what comes next.

At ACON Industries, we're building more than roads and infrastructure. We're building future people, future leaders and stronger communities.

We're looking for a Project Manager who can take ownership from project acceptance through to closeout. Someone who can bring clarity to complexity, build strong customer relationships, keep projects commercially under control and make sure our delivery teams have everything they need to succeed.

This role isn't about sitting behind a programme tracking dates. It's about creating delivery certainty, maintaining commercial control and helping our teams deliver work we're proud of.

About the RolE

You'll be responsible for converting accepted opportunities into controlled delivery outcomes by managing planning, customer communication, procurement, programme development, commercial performance and project closeout.

You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, estimators, supervisors and delivery teams to make sure projects are properly planned, ready to execute and commercially successful.

Our values are pretty simple

  • Forward Facing - We're building something that lasts.

  • Act With Humility - No big egos. Just good people doing good work.

  • Village Mentality - When one person needs help, we all step in.

  • Mana to Mana - Our relationships are built on trust and mutual respect.

  • Suppliers and subcontractors are aligned.

  • Risks are identified early.

  • Customers receive clear communication.

  • Variations are captured and controlled.

  • Costs, productivity and forecasts are current.

  • Delivery teams have what they need.

  • Issues are escalated before they become problems.

  • Project records are accurate and traceable.

  • The project remains commercially and operationally on track.

What YOU’LL BE DOING?

  • Establishing project baselines, scope, contracts and delivery requirements.

  • Developing methodology, programme, procurement and resource plans.

  • Managing suppliers and subcontractors after award.

  • Maintaining customer relationships and contract obligations.

  • Managing change control, notices and variations.

  • Monitoring project performance, forecasts, costs and recovery actions.

  • Supporting delivery readiness and successful handover to operations.

  • Managing project closeout, entitlement verification and supporting claims preparation.

  • Maintaining accurate project records and driving continuous improvement.
