JOB LISTING

Accounts Administrator

  • Location: Tauranga Central, Bay of Plenty

  • Contract Type: Full time

Keep the numbers straight. Help the team make good decisions. Build what comes next.

At ACON Industries, we’re building more than roads and infrastructure. We’re building future people, future leaders and stronger communities.

Good financial administration helps make that possible. It gives our people the information they need, keeps commitments visible and helps the business make sound decisions.

We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Administrator who knows their way around the numbers, keeps good records and follows things through. Someone who can manage the day-to-day finance work, spot when something doesn’t add up and raise it early.

If you’re organised, good with people and take pride in getting the details right, we’d like to talk.

Our values are pretty simple

  • Forward Facing: We make decisions today with tomorrow in mind.

  • Act With Humility: No big egos. Just good people doing good work.

  • Village Mentality: When someone needs support, we step in.

  • Mana to Mana: We build relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll help keep our financial systems and records running properly.

Your work will cover accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, credit control, cashflow, reconciliations, budget tracking and month-end reporting. You’ll also help maintain accurate customer, supplier and pricing records.

This isn’t a role where you’ll just process transactions and move on. You’ll work with managers, project teams, suppliers, customers and our external finance partners to make sure the right information is available when people need it.

You’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work, ask questions when something isn’t right and help us improve the way our finance systems and processes operate.

WHAT DOES A GOOD DAY LOOK LIKE?

  • The accounts are current and accurate.

  • Supplier invoices are matched and ready on time.

  • Customer invoices and outstanding balances are vYOU’isible.

  • Payroll information is complete and confidential.

  • Bank and control accounts are reconciled.

  • Cashflow information reflects what is actually happening.

  • Month-end work is ready when it needs to be.

  • Missing information gets followed up.

  • Problems and variances are raised early.

  • The team has reliable information to make decisions.

What YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Processing approved supplier invoices, credit notes and payments.

  • Matching purchase orders, invoices and delivery or receipt records.

  • Maintaining accounts receivable and issuing invoices from approved information.

  • Following up overdue accounts professionally and keeping credit-control actions current.

  • Preparing and processing approved payroll information.

  • Maintaining payroll records, including leave, allowances and deductions.

  • Completing bank, credit-card, payroll, debtor and creditor reconciliations.

  • Maintaining cashflow information and helping identify upcoming pressures or timing issues.

  • Supporting month-end journals, accruals, reconciliations and reporting.

  • Tracking approved budgets, financial commitments, actual costs and material variances.

  • Maintaining supporting records for GST, PAYE, KiwiSaver, FBT and other finance requirements.

  • Setting up and maintaining accurate customer and supplier records.

  • Maintaining approved supplier-rate and pricing-support information.

  • Protecting confidential employee, customer, supplier and banking information.

  • Helping improve finance systems, controls and everyday ways of working

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Do Work That Matters

Your work will help our people understand where things stand and make better operational decisions. You won’t just be entering numbers. You’ll be helping create the financial visibility and discipline that supports the wider team.

Get variety in your work

This is a broad role covering the full range of day-to-day finance administration. You’ll get exposure to payroll, cashflow, reporting, accounts, purchasing controls and process improvement.

Help build better systems

We’re always looking for ways to make our systems clearer, more reliable and easier for people to use. If you notice recurring errors, duplication or unnecessary delays, we want you to speak up and help us find a better way.

Be trusted to own your work

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t need to be chased. We’ll give you support and clear boundaries, but we’ll also trust you to manage your responsibilities, ask for the information you need and follow things through.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You’ll probably have experience in:

  • Accounts administration or bookkeeping.

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable.

  • Credit control and debtor follow-up.

  • Bank and control-account reconciliations.

  • Payroll administration.

  • Cashflow and month-end support.

  • Purchase-order matching.

  • GST, PAYE and general statutory finance administration.

  • Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Experience with Xero, Tradify, job-costing systems, civil construction, manufacturing or project-based accounting would be an advantage.

YOU’LL FIT IN WELL IF:

  • You care about getting the details right.

  • You follow things through rather than leaving loose ends.

  • You ask questions when something doesn’t make sense.

  • You raise problems early instead of hiding them.

  • You can manage recurring deadlines without needing to be reminded.

  • You communicate clearly with customers, suppliers and the wider team.

  • You understand that confidential information needs to stay confidential.

  • You’re comfortable returning incomplete or unsupported information.

  • You look for practical ways to make systems and processes better.

  • You treat people with respect.

  • You can have a laugh but still get the work done.

The kind of Accounts Administrator we’re after

We’re looking for someone who brings order, accuracy and visibility to the finance function.

Someone who understands that good accounts administration isn’t just about processing transactions. It’s about giving people information they can trust, protecting the integrity of the business and helping the whole team succeed.

You won’t be expected to make commercial decisions outside your lane. You will be expected to maintain reliable records, follow approved controls, communicate clearly and make sure unsupported or incomplete items are dealt with properly.

Keen to join the team?

Apply now and tell us:

  • What accounts or bookkeeping experience you have.

  • Which accounting and job-management systems you’ve used.

  • What parts of the finance function you’re most confident managing.

  • Why you’d be a great fit for ACON.
