Ngā Mahi | The Opportunity
This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about heavy vehicles and machinery. As a Mechanic Apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on a range of roading and paving equipment while learning from experienced mechanics. This role combines workshop-based maintenance tasks with on-site support, helping to keep our fleet running smoothly and safely.
You’ll receive full training, with a clear pathway to becoming a qualified heavy diesel mechanic.
Ngā Haepapa | Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Mechanical Support
Assist with inspections, servicing, and repairs of heavy vehicles and paving equipment.
Support diagnosis of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults.
Learn how to safely use tools and diagnostic equipment under supervision.
Help maintain accurate service and repair records.
Keep workshop areas clean, organised, and safe.
On-site Support
Support the crew by assisting with basic mechanical troubleshooting during jobs.
Work with senior mechanics to respond to urgent breakdowns on job sites.
Ōu Pūkenga | About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Permanent Rights to work in New Zealand.
At minimum you must hold a pre trade or at least 2 years of previous/current experience in the heavy automotive field
Clean full Class 1 licence
Experience/knowledge of paving equipment a bonus
Strong hydraulic and electrical finding skills
Ability to work unsupervised
Excellent communication skills
